Exploring West Africa through a culinary experience
Hi, my name is Haddy, and I am from Gambia, West Africa. I moved to Sweden to pursue my master’s degree at Lund University and moved to Stockholm while writing my thesis. I am a food enthusiast and have always used cooking and exploring different cuisines as a way to relax, treat myself and as an icebreaker to get to know someone more.
Growing up I would only watch food movies and shows. I had a talent of tasting the food and knowing almost all the ingredients in it. Through this, I experimented my favourite meals and learned how to cook. West African food is seldom explored because we are a close-knit group of people, who usually only cook and eat our meals as a family. I, however, would like to share this great explosion of flavours with the people here in Sweden.
As Julia Child says, “people who love to eat are always the best people” – It is time to explore the best sides of our different cultures through a culinary experience. Here is a sample menu!
